MANILA, Philippines – Actor Paulo Avelino has personally apologized to Entertainment Press Society (EnPress) president Jun Nardo after he cracked a joke at the Golden Screen TV Awards last March 1.

During the last shooting day of his movie “The Bride and The Lover” on Monday, Avelino said he deeply regrets what he had said, adding that his joke was indeed insensitive and uncalled for.

“Hindi ko na-realize na ganoon ang impact ng joke ko. I actually felt bad dahil hindi ‘yun ang intensyon ko. Hindi ako maingat sa nasabi ko. It was a mistake on my part,” Avelino said.

“Sorry po talaga, I am a bad joker. It was really in bad taste. Wala po akong intensyong masama o manghiya,” he added.

Avelino was named the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in the top-rating series “Walang Hanggan” during the awards night.

But due to unforeseen events, the actor was asked if he could present the Best Actor award.

The actor eventually agreed to do it but a lot of people were caught off guard when he told the audience that he was just forced to do it. “Mahirap magtrabaho kapag napipiplitan ka lang,” he said.

Nardo has accepted Avelino’s apology but said he still needs to meet with EnPress members about the incident.

Since the incident, rumors have surfaced that the EnPress is considering getting back the award from the actor. – from a report by Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
