MANILA, Philippines –After making waves on television with his role in the top-rating series “Princess and I,” Khalil Ramos is now gearing up for the big screen.
Ramos signed an exclusive two-picture contract with Star Cinema on Monday, and he expressed his joy over this latest development in his career.
“Wala pa pong nadi-discuss [about the movies] pero siyempre po masaya dahil I’m signing a contract that gives me two films. Siyempre isa rin naman sa pangarap kong magka-movie so yeah masayang masaya po ako,” he said.
“It’s really unexpected. I really didn’t know what’s in store for me in the business. Thankfully, dumating ang ‘Princess and I’ and now I’m signing a contract with Star Cinema,” he added.
It is still uncertain who will Ramos work with in his upcoming movies but if given the chance, he said he would love to work opposite actresses who are of the same age as him.
“I’m a newbie here in the film business so I don’t have any particular person in mind. Kahit sino naman. Nandiyan naman sila Kathryn (Bernardo) and mga ka-age ko, mayroon din 'yung mga ka-batch ko sa Star Circle 2013,” he said.
Courting Julia Barretto?
Meanwhile, Ramos admitted that he has a crush on Julia Barretto, who was also launched as part of the Star Circle 2013 last week.
Barretto is the daughter of Marjorie Barretto and Dennis Padilla, and is the niece of actresses Claudine and Gretchen.
“We are good. We are fine. It was her birthday yesterday (Sunday). I was asked by the press sa launch namin ng Star Magic 2013 and I just said may crush ako kay Julia,” he said.
Asked if he is open to be paired with Barretto is his upcoming projects, Ramos said: “Of course naman lalo na po ngayon na we see each other more often. We are getting to know each other more.”
But while he describes Barretto as “really kind, easy to talk to and sweet,” Ramos said he has no plans of courting the 16-year-old actress just yet.
“Maybe sa ngayon hindi naman. Friends pa lang po kami ngayon. Not soon. Hindi pa [kami lumalabas],” he said.
