Ruffa Gutierrez: No goodbyes
MANILA, Philippines – Although she didn't show up on "The Buzz" Sunday, Ruffa Gutierrez still formally bid farewell to the show during her taped interview with co-host Boy Abunda.
Sunday's episode of "The Buzz" was Gutierrez's last day before moving to network TV5. Many were expecting her to show up live on the show.
“May mga baon akong smiles. I have so many friends here. Ayoko ng goodbyes,” the actress-host said in her interview.
Gutierrez was in tears as she thanked Abunda, Kris Aquino, and the rest of the celebrity shows’ staff and crew for the 3 years that they spent working together. She also expressed her gratitude to the network’s big bosses for giving her a job despite years of absence in show business.
Gutierrez moved to Turkey when she married businessman Yilmaz Bektas in 2003. When the 2 separated, she moved back to the Philippines along with her 2 daughters.
“I learned a lot from being a Kapamilya… Unang una, I was given a job in the midst of my woes back then, siyempre ‘yong marriage ko nag-break down. Nandiyan sila para sa akin and natuto ako to become a better actress and natuto ako to be a better host,” she said.
She added that she learned to be humble during her stay in the network. “I guess, I could say that I am more human now than I was before.”
As for Abunda and Aquino, who she called mentors, Gutierrez said she is also grateful to the 2 veteran hosts, adding that she learned a lot from them.
“Tito Boy, thank you so much. I’ve learned so much from you. When the going gets rough, you’ve given me great advice. Sana huwag kang magbago,” she said.
“I would like to say thank you kay Kris. Ang dami kong natutunan kay Kris. ‘Yong incident na nangyari last Sunday, isa lang ‘yon. Kung baga the whole 2 to 3 years naman, we have a lot of good, crazy, funny moments,” she added.
Gutierrez and Aquino had patched things up following their much talked about misunderstanding last week.
