MANILA – Actor John Lloyd Cruz came to the defense of his big-screen leading lady Sarah Geronimo following the negative press the singer-actress has been getting lately.

During the press conference of their third movie together on Sunday, Cruz said people should not be quick to judge Geronimo because she is just like any other girl who also gets hurt.

“Parte ng trabaho natin na madali tayong husgahan. Si Sarah kasi masyado siyang totoo, she’s very candid. Kung ano ang gusto niyang mabitawang salita, maaaring hindi napag-isipan kaagad. Sometimes kailangan naman muna na give her a break. Babae din siya eh, nasasaktan,” he said.

“Minsan nadudulas ang dila [niya] na may nasasabing hindi maganda. Ganun talaga. Kailangan mong palagpasin, lahat naman tayo dumadaan diyan. Wala namang perfect na tao. Ang pinakamaganda diyan is how you rise above it. Kaya niyang mag-apologize, kaya niyang tanggapin kung mali ang nagawa niya and then move on and be a better person,” he added.

According to Cruz, he and Geronimo became closer while doing their third movie together and he takes pride that he witnessed how Geronimo has matured through time.

“Bibilib ka sa kanya kasi pupunta 'yan sa trabaho, gagawin niya ang kailangan niyang gawin 100%. Ang dedication niya hindi naman nawawala. Ang mga pinagdadaanan niya, pinagdadaanan ng normal 25-year-old girl,” he said.

Cruz and Geronimo just finished shooting their movie “It Takes A Man and A Woman” which is billed as the final installment in their teamup as Laida and Miggy.

During the press conference, Cruz turned emotional that their characters in the movie, which viewers have learned to love, will now come to an end.

“It Takes A Man and A Woman” is set to be released in theaters nationwide on March 30.
