MANILA – Actor Oyo Boy Sotto admitted he advised his wife Kristine Hermosa not to accept the offer to star in the remake of the phenomenal ABS-CBN series “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.”

First aired in 2000 as the Kapamilya network's first "teleserye," “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” catapulted the teamup of Hermosa and actor Jericho Rosales to fame.

In an interview with entertainment website Pep.ph, Sotto said he told Hermosa to turn down the project because she was offered a mother role.

“Parang hindi maganda kasi sila [ni Jericho] ‘yung gaganap na nanay at tatay. Sabi ko, 'Huwag na, hayaan mo na lang 'yung 'Pangako Sa 'Yo' na as is na lang na iniiwan niyo sa taong talagang solid sa puso nila, ‘di ba?’” he said.

Sotto said that up to now, he has been getting comments about seeing the former love team together again on the screen.

“Kahit hanggang ngayon sa Instagram 'yung mga Malaysians sinasabi, 'We love Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales,'” he said.

Meanwhile, Sotto revealed that Hermosa also got an offer to work on a Malaysian television project with Rosales.

“Alam ko may ino-offer ang Malaysia na gawin nila ni Echo kaya lang ang hirap nama kasi parang mga three months sila doon sa Malaysia. Pero sa akin, siguradong dapat kasama kami [him and their two kids] and then, bigyan kami ng matitirahan doon. Medyo hindi raw kaya sabi ko, next time na lang," he said.

Sotto admitted that Hermosa still misses show business.

“Na mi-miss niya rin. Marami kasing nagtu-tweet sa kanya na 'Kristine, come back to showbiz.' Sa akin, marami din nagsasabi, 'Please allow Miss Kristine Hermosa.' Mostly, talaga Malaysians talagang pumipilit eh,” he said.

Hermosa’s last TV series with ABS-CBN was “Noah” which was shown in 2010.
