Charice holds first solo concert in US
LOS ANGELES - For a long time, Charice dreamed of showing her international fans who she really is on stage. That dream came true when she held her first ever solo concert in America.
This is also the first time that the singer held a concert for US audience since she came out. Charice said though her personal life has changed, her commitment to perform her best for the fans remains the same.
"Nag-bo-vocalize nang kaunti. Pray lang. 'Yun ang lagi kong ginagawa," she said. "When I'm on stage, kanta lang ako, feel ko lang 'yung song ko. Perform lang ako for everyone. 'Yun lang naman talaga nag gusto nila, a great show."
Held in Los Angeles, her avid fans called "Chasters" showed up to support the first show of Charice's world concert tour. They came from all over America, with a few even flying in from Japan.
Some Hollywood entertainment executives also came to watch the show and Charice's team is excited about upcoming opportunities in America. Charice added having gone through a lot in life at a young age, she wants, more than anything now, to inspire other young people.
"I want to be an inspiration to all the teenagers out there na nagkakaroon situation na katulad sa akin because, like I said earlier, anything is possible," she said.
Charice's friend Cheesa was the singer's special guest, belting out several songs that showed why she was a standout on "The Voice" in 2012.
Meanwhile, Troy Laureta, the musical director of Charice, cleared up his reported feud with Rex Smith. The American singer unexpectedly showed up when Charice was doing a sound check in Cebu.
"There's no hard feelings. I love Rex Smith. I've been a fan since I was a kid," said Laureta.
Canada will be the singer's next world concert tour destination. Charice will be back at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas on May 3 and on May 10, she will hold a birthday concert in San Diego.
