International young diva Charice is reportedly going to be part of 20th Century Fox’s "Alvin and The Chipmunks 2," a live action-animation movie, that will be shown in the country in January 2010.

It is not yet confirmed if the pint-sized singer will indeed become part of the comedy film, and, if it is true, what role she will be portraying. The singer was also careful not to divulge too many details about her first Hollywood film.

When ABS-CBN News caught up with her at the airport while she was on her way to Los Angeles in the United States, she just shared this piece of information: “’Yong story niya umiikot sa tatlong animated characters.”

Entertainment writer Ricky Lo of The Philippine Star wrote in his “Funfare” column that, before she flew to the US, Charice was overheard speaking in a “strange voice” after her show in Laguna.

Suggesting that the singer might already be practicing for her role, Lo’s source said Charice “sounded like a chipmunk.”

If reports are true, Filipinos will have to see if Charice will lend her voice to one of the “chipettes," or female chipmunks who can communicate with human beings, that will be introduced in the film.

The Chipettes are a fictional group of anthropomorphic chipmunks that first appeared on animated cartoon series "Alvin and the Chipmunks" in 1983.

In the series, the chipettes are siblings Brittany, Jeanette and Eleonor. It is also possible that Charice might portray the first chipmunk singer -- Charlene The Chipette.

"Alvin and The Chipmunks 2" is currently being shot in California and is set to be shown in the country in January of next year.

Its 2007 offering starred Jason Lee, David Cross, Cameron Richardson and Jane Lynch.  The film also featured the voices of Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney.
