MANILA, Philippines - Jason Francisco turned emotional as he publicly asked his former sweetheart, Melai Cantiveros, to give him a chance to win her heart back.

In an exclusive tell-all interview with "Kris TV" host Kris Aquino aired on Friday, Francisco was teary-eyed as he promised Cantiveros that he will do everything to be in her life again.

Cantiveros confirmed her breakup with Francisco in February last year.

Tapos ipapakita ko sa iyo na deserving na ako," Francisco told Cantiveros, who is a guest co-host on "Kris TV."

While Cantiveros admitted that she now sees how Francisco has changed, she said that she wants to see more "effort."

Meanwhile, Francisco said his showbiz career can take a back seat so he can concentrate on Cantiveros and on becoming a seaman.

Willing ako [to take a back seat], oo naman.

On Melai's other suitors

In the interview, Francisco admitted that he never thought that Cantiveros would entertain other suitors, saying that he always believed that they were meant for each other.

Kasi alam mo yon, from the start alam na namin 'till the end, kahit anong mangyari sa amin [kami pa rin].

It was 2009 when Cantiveros and Francisco met inside the "Pinoy Big Brother" house. A year later, they officially became a couple.

Jason punches John

The special episode on "Kris TV" featuring Francisco and Cantiveros was aired a day after the "Pinoy Big Brother" alumnus was involved in a brawl with actor-dancer John Prats.

On Thursday night, Prats reported to San Juan police that Francisco punched him during the rehearsals for a late-night gag show at the Music Museum.

In a separate interview, Francisco admitted that he hit Prats after he was angered by the constant teasing of the cast of "Banana Split" to Cantiveros, who is also part of the gag show.

Francisco, who left with Cantiveros following the encounter, added that he hopes to speak personally with Prats to apologize.
