(UPDATE) Edu Manzano says he’s leaving showbiz for good
MANILA, Philippines – Regardless of the outcome of the May 10 elections, vice presidential candidate Edu Manzano has announced that he is quitting show business.
Manzano, the former host of “Pilipinas, Game KNB?,” said he has no plans of going back to acting and hosting entertainment television shows.
"I do not like to be dancing the ‘Papaya’ at age 55. Hindi na rin kaya ng tuhod ko," he said, referring to “Game KNB’s” very famous “Papaya Dance.”
Manzano disclosed that he now prefers to host current affairs programs.
When it comes to the matters of the heart, meantime, the Lakas-Kampi-CMD vice presidential candidate has set aside the issue. He added that he and his former girlfriend, news anchor Pinky Webb, are no longer talking.
Harapan
Meanwhile, Manzano said he does not regret his absence in ABS-CBN’s "Harapan: The Vice Presidential Debate" last Sunday.
In a press conference, Manzano said he could not attend the forum since he already had a prior commitment for a provincial campaign.
After he watched the debate, Manzano said he was glad he did not attend since the candidates merely resorted to mudslinging.
Instead of attending a forum for candidates, Manzano said he prefers to campaign in the provinces and woo voters personally.
In a phone interview with ANC’s “Top Story” Tuesday, the actor-turned-politician also explained that he could not just cancel his scheduled campaign sorties in the provinces.
“We cannot just adjust our schedules because of invitations. You also have to understand that the local campaign is just around the corner. And we depend largely on our local leaders to help us in convincing the voters to vote for us. Sometimes, we also have to worry about their feelings,” he said.
He noted that his campaign sorties have already been planned way ahead of the ABS-CBN debate.-With ANC
Win or Lose, Gay Gibo & M."Bi" Villar Still Luvs Edu's Manzanas
One day, Gay Gibo thought of relaxing under the shade of a tree after organizing a successful "male" beauty pageant (http://abs-cbnnews.com/lifestyle/03/02/10/
male-beauty-pageant-launched-spice-gibos-campaign). He brought along his much-loved Apple laptop which reminded him of Edu's apple-like butt which happens to be the apple of his eye. He always day dreams about biting Edu's manzanas. And relaxing under a tree was conducive to his favorite pastime of fantasizing about a forbidden fruit.
Suddenly, an apple hit his head, like Newton's apple, and it knocked him out unconscious. But little did he know that it was not actually an apple that hit him! It was actually a grenade, painted red, which failed to explode and which was hurled to his head by a "man" hiding behind the bushes--a "man" named M."Bi" Villar.
While unconscious though, he dreamed his usual dream. He saw his id and superego personified by himself and M."Bi" respectively, conversing in their usual gay manner:
M."Bi": "Pare, ang sosyal ng Apple kompyuter mo!" (Man, your Apple computer is so classy!)
G.G.: "Of course, everything classy is 'gay.' And that's who I am."
M."Bi": "Hahahahahahaha! Buti na lang tunay na lalaki ako!" (Fortunately, I'm a real man!)
G.G: "Yeah right! (sarcastic) The other day I saw your eyes twinkling directly towards Edu's manzanas! That's why you love my Apple laptop!"
M."Bi": "Shhhhh! 'Wag masyadong maingay! Sa'tin Sa'tin 'lang 'yun ah!" (Not too loud! That's just between the two of us, OK?)
G.G.: I rest my case...It's gonna cost you though!
M."Bi": "Sige. Sige. Magkano?" (Alright. Alright. How much?)
G.G.: 500 million pesos.
M."Bi": "Sira ka ba! Ang laki naman!" (Are you crazy?! That's too much!)
G.G.: Take it or leave it!
M."Bi": "Sige na nga. Mga bading talaga!" (OK, alright. The nerve of these faggots!)

Like India 15 years ago...
Philippines now is like India 15 years ago when they also voted for actors and actresses. Since then Indians have become more mature when it comes to electing their ministers. They are now voting for honest and genuinely qualified people.
Now look at their country. Although it still has a lot of poor people because of their huge population, they are now exporting vehicles to the US. They have so many top grade science and technology professionals in the US. A lot of them either own or lead big companies in the US.
Pero tayo. Marami tayong artista. Maraming nanonood ng noontime shows at mga soap opera. Ang yumayaman ay yung mga nasa entertainment at advertisement business lang. Ang mga estudyante at manggagawa nagsasayang lang ng oras sa kakapanood araw-araw. Ang mga OFWs natin sa ibang bansa, if not domestics, are mostly in the lower grade. Ang mga fresh graduates ng La Salle, Ateneo, etc., ay call center agents. Yes those are decent jobs, but if our government officials are effective, they could provide us the education and skills to aim for higher grade jobs.
Kung di tayo magbabago sa pagpili ng president at vice president, next time you wake up, naunahan na tayo ng mga masmahirap na bansa tulad ng Vietnam at Cambodia.
Does he knows that ..........
politics and show business is two totally different things ???????
I see that this seems to be the problem of most Pinoy’s show business people, they think that they are “LOVED “by their fans that the automatically have to move up to be a politician, boxer – actress – actor – singer – idiot or whatever, why don’t you just enjoy your fans for what you have done to have them.
Being loved because you do well in acting or singing or even sports, don’t mean that you are worth a pesos as a politician, and just because one of the evil parties takes you under their wings does not mean that you ever be any good as a politician.
All they want to do is use you, profit of your fame and what I thing is the worst part of it …………….. USE YOU.
But those “STARS” don’t have enough brains to see that and say NO.
All they see is that they might be able to cash in a few more bucks, most don’t have their savings in the Philippines anyway, and that’s all they see …..$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
I myself would NEVER – EVER vote for a person who has no idea about politics and just want to use their name to make a few bucks and then run.
