'Mirabella' pilot rules time slot, trends worldwide
MANILA -- "Mirabella," ABS-CBN's new primetime series starring Julia Barretto in the title role, debuted Monday to strong viewership and hot anticipation on social media.
The Kapamilya series registered a nationwide rating of 22%, according to Kantar Media, making it the most watched program in its time slot. Its competing series aired on GMA-7, "Paraiso Ko'y Ikaw," lagged behind by as much as 12 percentage-points with only 10% in national TV ratings.
Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, representing 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
"Mirabella" also dominated conversations on micro-blogging site Twitter, with its official hashtag "#TheStoryofMirabella" zooming up as the No. 1 trending topic in the Philippines and worldwide during its telecast.

The pilot episode of "Mirabella" traced the origin of the curse that has left the titular character with a wood-like complexion.
Billed as the launching series of Barretto, "Mirabella" is under the direction of Erick Salud, Jerome Pobocan and Jojo Saguin. Joining Barretto in the case are Enrique Gil, Sam Concepcion, Mika dela Cruz, Pokwang, John Lapus, Mylene Dizon, James Blanco, and Gloria Diaz.
"Mirabella" airs weeknights before "TV Patrol."
