MANILA – Despite news of several celebrity couples tying the knot or getting engaged – like Bianca Gonzalez and JC Intal – Toni Gonzaga does not feel envious that she and her boyfriend, Paul Soriano, are not yet settling down.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Monday, Gonzaga said she does not want to rush into marriage because it is a lifetime commitment that one should be prepared for.

“Pagdating sa ganung bagay, wala akong inggit eh, doon sa settling down. I’m very settled din right now with where I am, who I am. I’m not in a rush with anything in my life. I’ve reached a point na whatever God is going to hand me or give me, I’m just going to accept it,” she said.

Gonzaga, however, maintained that she is “ready for anything” in case Soriano proposes to her.

“I’m ready for anything. Hindi naman ako nagmamadali talaga. Ako ang nape-pressure. Tanong sila ng tanong [kung magpapakasal na kami]. Siya naman, relax na relax naman siya. Sagot lang ng sagot. He’s very honest and transparent about what he feels,” she said.

But when the time comes that Soriano asks for her hand in marriage, Gonzaga explained she just wants it to be private.

“I was telling my sister, it’s so refreshing to see Bianca na ma-engage ng ganung way because she’s not a movie actress. Hindi siya umaarte eh. So 'yung mga ganung big gesture, okay sa kanya 'yun kasi hindi naman niya 'yun nagagawa sa line of work niya kasi she’s a host. She deserves that kind of grand gesture from a guy,” she said.

“Ako naman, since gumagawa na ako ng romantic-comedy movies, love stories, I am expecting something different. Maybe something simple or something private. But actually it depends pa rin on how the guy will orchestrate everything. 'Yun lang ang preference ko pero depende pa rin 'yun sa lalaki,” Gonzaga continued.

Soriano and Gonzaga have been a couple for over seven years now and the director has been vocal of his plans to marry the “Starting Over Again” actress in time.

Soriano was even quoted as saying his next "big project" is to marry his long-time girlfriend.

In a previous interview, Soriano said that the wedding is likely to happen soon.

"Definitely, the next step in my life is the wedding. But I've got to propose first! Then we do the wedding. But [it will be] very soon. It's very hard to surprise a woman, so I can't really say so much about it. It's got to be special," Soriano said.
