'La Greta' shows vulnerable side
Controversial-magnet Gretchen Barretto is known for her frankness and no holds-barred answers to tough questions. “La Greta” on Sunday however kept her mouth shut and evaded one sensitive query from television host Boy Abunda.
Barretto guested on weekly entertainment show “The Buzz” Sunday to promote her second album, “Complicated.”
She was put in the hot seat during the show’s “Tough 10 Questions” where host Abunda asked the actress-singer this: ‘Naitanong na ba sa iyo ni groom-to-be ang tanong na: 'Will you marry me?”
Barretto is the common-law partner of businessman Antonio "Tonyboy" Cojuangco.
They have one child together.
Abunda asked the question twice but a teary-eyed Barretto refused to answer him.
One thing for sure though, when she finally says “I do,” she said she will “live for the moment.”
“He’s talented. He sings. He got a complicated life also. He got a golden smile. He holds on even when I choose to let go,” Barretto said, describing her “groom-to-be.”
Reciting a line from a song, the actress added: “Now, I do believe that even in the storm, we’ll find some light, knowing you’re beside me I’m all right. You asked me if there would come a time I’d grow tired of you. Never my love. No, never my love.”
Barretto and Cojuangco’s relationship had been beset with intrigues and controversies. Several times in the past they had been rumored to have separated but the actress repeatedly denied it.
