Lance Raymundo won't sue gym, trainer
MANILA – Singer-actor Lance Raymundo has no plans of suing the gym or his trainer after a 95-pound barbell crushed his face when it fell on him while he was working out.
It was earlier reported that an 80-pound barbell fell on Raymundo’s face but he clarified this on ”Umagang Kay Ganda” on Monday, saying it was actually 15 pounds heavier.
Raymundo insisted that what happened to him was an accident and he is certain that nobody intended for it to happen.
“Dahil aksidente lang ito and 'yung mga tao naman sa gym, doon ako for the past 10 years and I’ve always had safe workouts, and talagang ang aksidente mangyayari kahit nasa bahay ka and all, with that, hindi ako magsasampa ng demanda,” he said.
Raymundo said he even asked the gym to re-hire the trainer who was fired after his accident.
“Nakiusap kami kasi siyempre 'yung trainer na ito, ito ang kabuhayan niya. He has kids and may mga anak na pinaparaal. Hindi naman niya kagustuhan na maaksidente ako so talagang nakiusap ako na i-absorb ulit and, of course, mag-impose na lang sila ng stricter quality control. I’m happy to announce na nabalik naman sa kanya ang trabaho niya,” he said.
Asked if the gym, which he won’t identify, offered to help him in any way, Raymundo said: “Siyempre 'yung daddy ko right after the accident, shinoulder na niya lahat ng expenses. Sila naman they were kind enough to offer na tumulong although nagawa na naman namin lahat.”
Raymundo said what’s more important is the gym’s efforts to help him.
While he already looks normal after his first operation, Raymundo said he can’t go back to work just yet.
“I look okay now pero hindi ko pwede pilitin ang sarili ko na lumabas dahil unang una, instructions sa akin bawal humatsing. I should be in a situation na walang chance na mag-sneeze ako. Magpapalakas pa talaga ako,” he said.
Raymundo will be undergoing his next surgery, scheduled in about a month, which will involve replacing his shattered nasal cartilage with one that would be harvested from his ear.
