MANILA, Philippines – Hounded by charges of parricide for the death of his wife Maricar de Paz, magician-performer Alakim, whose real name is Allan de Paz, asked to be given time to mourn.

Alakim, through his lawyer Atty. Joji Alonso, also asked for prayers for his wife, who died from a gunshot wound in her chest.
“Alakim is going through pain and uncertainties brought about by unfortunate events in his life,” Alonso said in a correspondence with entertainment talkshow “The Buzz.”
“He would like to request that he be given time to deal with his grief. He likewise appeals for the prayers for the soul of his beloved wife,” the lawyer said.
Alakim is accused of shooting his wife during a heated argument in front of their house in Lamar Village, Marikina City.
In an earlier statement, Alakim had confirmed the misunderstanding with his wife Maricar, but refused to give details about their argument.
The decision on whether there is probable cause to charge Alakim with the crime will be released on April 10.
Alakim, a magician, was a grand finalist of the ABS-CBN talent show “Pilipinas Got Talent” in June 2012.
