Even in her absence from the local entertainment scene, multi-awarded actress Nora Aunor lives in the hearts and minds of her ever increasing millions of fans in the country.

The “Nora-mania” is very much alive.

This was evident in all the activities her loyal followers have been holding in her honor. The latest was the showing of a documentary film on the life of one of the most colorful and avid “Noranians,” the late Mandy Diaz.

Written, produced and directed by filmmaker Clodualdo del Mundo, Jr., “Superfan,” a 23-minute documentary, focuses on Diaz’s adoration of Aunor that spanned four decades until his death.

Screened at the Dream Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the docu-drama is a testament of the undying love not only of Diaz but the entire “Noranians” as well for the superstar.

The event was well-attended by representatives of various Nora Aunor fans clubs and ordinary members.

In the documentary, versatile actor Nonie Buencamino plays the role of Diaz. “Superfan” cuts across the personal and public life of a fan. Even his being gay was exposed in the movie.

Selected clips from past performances of Aunor were also included in the documentary, which made it crisp and enjoyable. Even the rivalry between Aunor and Vilma Santos, now Batangas governor, have been highlighted, with video support from the Ishmael Bernal classic “Ikaw Ay Akin.”

Despite the short running time, significant insights are captured in the time span.

According to del Mundo, he still wanted to stretch the story but budget limitations hindered him.

“Maybe, if somebody will finance it, why not?” commented the filmmaker.
