Two 'Sexbomb' dancers, pals in trouble after 'Bora' brawl
Rochelle Pangilinan and Aifha Medina, members of “Sexbomb” dancers, got involved in a brawl in Boracay during the Holy Week break in the latest of a string of incidents involving celebrities on the famed island.
The heated argument between Pangilinan, Medina and their non-celebrity friends and another tourist, Joshua Formentira, occurred on Maundy Thursday at Crystal Sand Beach Resort and had turned violent.
Formentira reportedly suffered cuts after Michelle Villanueva, a friend of Pangilinan and Medina, allegedly smashed him in the face with a drinking glass. Villanueva defended that she did it in an act of self-defense.
The violence began around 2 p.m. after Formentira purportedly berated Pangilinan’s group for playing loud music, which reportedly disturbed him and other hotel guests.
“I told them, ‘look there's a right place and right time for music and can you please [turn] down your music,’” Formentira said in an interview on “The Buzz.” “They started yelling and dancing and then the last thing I didn’t like [was] when they said, ‘bakla ka kasi.’”
“I went back to them… I said, ‘who said [that]?’ ‘Bakit?’ That’s their reaction. And I said, ‘yes, bakla ako but do not cross the line. You have to give me respect,” he added.
Then one of Pangilinan’s companions smashed a glass into his face, said a “shocked” Formentira.
“I touched my forehead, it was bleeding… they were so agitated. There was no compassion, none,” he said.
Pangilinan’s group, on the other hand, had this version of the story.
After playing loud music, Pangilinan and Medina said Formentira went to their group and began yelling and telling them to get out of the area. Pangilinan said one of her friends immediately turned off the radio.
“Ayaw niya ng sound kaya umalis [daw] kami doon. As in sinisigawan niya kami,” Medina said.
In the middle of the heated argument, Villanueva admitted that she called him gay. “Sabi ko, ‘bakit ka nagmumura? Bakla ka ba?”
Formentira reportedly went berserk and turned to Medina, who he initially thought as the one who made the “gay” remark.
Villanueva said: “[I told him] I’m the one who said na bakla siya so ako na ‘yong sinusugod niya. Ako naman nakita ko siya may hawak na bottled water, nanunuro. And sa table may tatlong baso, wala akong ibang mahawakan kundi ‘yong baso, as self-defense ko na din. Ginawa ko hinampas ko siya ng baso. Inunahan ko na siya.”
Villanueva said she only did it because she got scared when a “burly” Formentira moved toward her direction.
Formentira was brought to a hospital while Villanueva’s group called the police.
“The Buzz” host Boy Abunda shared that he had asked Formentira why he did not fight back and the host quoted him as saying that it was because he is advocating “for the rights of women and children. I couldn’t hit her back because she's a woman.”
Abunda said Villanueva was detained overnight because of the incident. Formentira, meanwhile, is not changing his mind about filing a case against the group.
The "Sexbomb" girls were not the only personalities who got into trouble while spending Holy Week in Boracay. Actor Andrew Wolff and beauty queen Margaret "Maggie" Wilson were also brought to the police stations due to separate incidents of dispute and scuffle.
Abunda added that 100 more policemen have been deployed in Boracay in order to maintain peace and order on the island.
