MANILA, Philippines – Actor Albert Martinez is proud that his latest project, ABS-CBN’s newest primetime series “Princess and I,” is set for an international release.

Martinez, who plays the king of Yangdon, said he feels blessed to be part of the high-budget soap opera as he revealed that the Kathryn Bernardo-starrer is also set for release in other countries.
“I’m really proud and blessed to be part of this very ambitious project, and if I’m not mistaken, I believe this is the very first project that’s meant for international release from day one,” Martinez said in an interview during the press launch for the show on Wednesday night.
On portraying his character, King Anand, Martinez said his latest role is incomparable to his previous ones, since royals have to be restrained when showing their emotions.
Moreover, he also had to study a new language.
“It’s a huge challenge to understand the language, and to understand the emotion within the language. Tapos, of course, [challenging din ‘yung] how to be royal, how to control your emotions. Kasi as king, hindi ka pwedeng [nagpapakita ng] outburst of emotions. You have to control yourself all the time,” he explained.
Like him, the ensemble of young actors on “Princess” are dedicated to their craft, Martinez noted.
“I’m really amazed with the young actors kasi lahat sila focused. Lahat sila they seriously love their craft and you see they love to work,” he said.
Joining Martinez and Bernardo in the new TV series are actors Enrique Gil and Daniel Padilla. “Pilipinas Got Talent” runner-up Khalil Ramos also stars in the show – his first acting project.
“Princess and I” will premiere on April 16 during the Primetime Bida block of ABS-CBN.
The series also stars Gretchen Barretto, Dominic Ochoa, Yayo Aguila, Precious Lara Quigaman, Nina Dolino and Sharmaine Suarez under the direction of Dado Lumibao.
