WATCH: Dramatic 'PBB' hopefuls in last-chance auditions
MANILA - Over 11,000 aspiring housemates trooped to the final auditions of "Pinoy Big Brother" on Tuesday, less than two weeks before the reality show's premiere on April 27.
As early as Monday night, hopefuls aged 15 to 30 years old were already in line at the Araneta Coliseum, where the auditions for "PBB: All In" were held.
The screenings kicked off at 7 a.m., and is anticipated to end early Wednesday morning, according to "Pinoy Big Brother" director Laurenti Dyogi, citing the sheer number of participants.
Only 10,000 auditionees were originally to be accommodated.
In batches, the aspiring housemates showed off their talents and personalities as they interacted with fellow hopefuls. Some danced and sang, while others gave a sample of their ramp modeling skills.
A number kept it low-key, opting to let their personality naturally show, but more common were auditionees who went all-out with dramatic acting.
"Naghahanap tayo ng kakaibang housemate," Dyogi told ABS-CBN News' Ginger Conejero. "'Yung hindi katulad ng any of our housemates before."
"Generally, gusto ko makahanap ng masayahing tao, 'yung totoong masayahin na hindi 'yung umaarteng masaya. Iyong talagang kahit ano'ng gawin mo, masaya itong taong ito. And I'm looking for a positive person as well. Kung anong klase 'yon, 'yung hugis no'n, itsura no'n, hindi ko alam."
Based on the Endemol-owned format that premiered in Netherlands in 1999, "Pinoy Big Brother" has so far produced 10 "big winners" in the Philippines.
"PBB: All In" will mark the 11th edition of the ABS-CBN reality series since it premiered in August 2005. The last iteration of "Pinoy Big Brother," its fourth teen edition, ended in July 2012.
