Angel Locsin, or Angelica Colmenares in real life, is one of the lucky actresses in local show business to have played the role of “Darna,” a Mars Ravelos’ comic heroine whose story had been adapted in television and movies countless times.

It was playing the role of Darna the television series, aired over GMA 7, that Locsin became a household name. She had already made various TV series and films and was a popular brand endorser even before moving to ABS-CBN.

Her decision to sign an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN in 2007 instead of renewing it with GMA 7 became one of the biggest controversies in showbiz that year.

Under ABS-CBN, she has done her first movie "Love Me Again" and first TV series "Lobo," both with Piolo Pascual as her leading man. Soon, she will go back to TV as the main character in Filipino adaptation of “My Only You.”

Locsin is Luis “Lucky” Manzano’s girlfriend. She turned 24 today.
