Derek Ramsay, star of three upcoming Kapamilya shows, has admitted that he does not want to be compared to Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual.

Ramsay confirmed on the “Sixcrets” segment of “Entertainment Live” that the issue of him not wanting to be compared to Milby and Pascual is a fact.

This despite Ramsay being part of “The Wedding” with Anne Curtis and Zanjoe Marudo, Precious Hearts Romances: “Ang Lalaking Umibig Sa Akin” with Toni Gonzaga, and Komiks Presents: Mars Ravelo’s “Nasaan Ka Marjua?” with Karylle and Kristine Hermosa.

“E-live” host Mariel Rodriguez even called Ramsay the “universal leading man.”

“They're up there,” Derek said of Sam and Piolo. “Ako nag-uumpisa pa lang ako. So marami pa akong kakainin to be compared to those guys.”

While he said that it would be great to have his own identity in the industry, Ramsay added, “It would also be a nice feeling to be compared to them, but not just yet.”

Derek also dispelled rumors saying that he secretly likes (may lihim na pagtingin) his co-stars Anne Curtis and Kristine Hermosa.

“Crush lang. At alam naman ni Commander ‘yon eh,” pertaining to his girlfriend, actress Angelica Panganiban.

As to why he calls Angelica “Commander,” he replied “Papagalitan ako nito.”

Meanwhile, he also said that in a relationship, “Dapat pantay-pantay lang kayo.” He said this after confirming the issue “Derek, ayaw magpa-under sa babae.”

Ramsay also shared that for him, “age is but a number” in a relationship.

But when Rodriguez asked him how old Angelica was, he said “Naku mapapagalitan ako.”

As for marriage and having kids, Derek said, “It doesn’t really matter to me kung ano ang mauna. Basta ako I’ll face my responsibility. Kung gusto ng partner ko magpakasal muna, di ‘yon na muna gagawin ko.”

In a video interview, Panganiban explained Derek’s outlook on marriage.

“Meron kasi siyang paniniwala na hindi naman madadagan ang pagmamahal mo sa isang tao dahil pakakasalan mo siya. So feeling niya hindi kailangan yung kasal, ‘yong marriage para mapatunayan mo na mahal mo ang isang tao,” said Angelica.
