The Megastar Sharon Cuneta has confirmed that her husband, Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan will run for vice president in 2010.

"Yes as vice president," Cuneta told reporters in a press conference for her upcoming comedy film "Best Friends Forever (BFF)" with Ai-Ai delas Alas on Monday.

The Megastar made the statement after being asked by reporters if her senator husband was really gunning for the second highest position in 2010.

The actress, who will be celebrating her 13th wedding anniversary with Pangilinan, made an assurance that she will be there to support the senator’s candidacy, even if it means campaigning against one of her closest showbiz friends, Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos.

“Is she running for VP? But you know Ate Vi naman is not only an actress, not only a politician but she is also a wife, hindi ba? And I think although we are very close and if we turn it around and if I run for vice presidency and Ralph was running for at the same time obviously naman hindi ko naman ini-expect na ako ang kampihan niya, mali 'yon. Dapat doon siya sa asawa niya, hindi ba? 'Yong kay Ate Vi ay maiintindihan niya ako," Cuneta said.

Cuneta believes that Santos would understand if she will campaign for her husband. But stressed that she would also feel bad since she really wants to support all her friends who are planning to run for electoral posts in next year's polls.

"So I think tama lang 'yon. If Ate Vi will run, it won't take a genius to understand na dapat lang doon ako sa asawa ko; although nanghihinayang ako kasi kahit sinong kaibigan ko ang tumakbo sana pwedeng hati-hatiin ang katawan ko para suportahan sila," she said.

Cuneta, who has been in showbiz for almost three decades, also shared that a lot of people still doubt her relationship with the senator.

She said there are people who still think that her husband is using her for his political ambition.

"Hindi ba 2001 pa siya senador? Thirteen years na kaming married bukas (April 28). Fifteen years na kami together and we are happy. Pero may mga tao pa din na nagtatanong 'yung ang kukulit 'Kakampanya si Sharon, baka ginagamit mo lang si Sharon?' Alam mo natawa siya sabi niya 'Alam mo 13 years na kaming mag-asawa mas pangit naman kung hindi mo siya ikampanya,” Cuneta explained.

Currently, Cuneta is still shooting a few remaining scenes of her film, "BFF" with delas Alas. "BFF" the Mother's Day offering of Star Cinema is directed  by well-acclaimed director Wenn Deramas.
