Ciara plays peacemaker between mom, Sharon
MANILA, Philippines – Actress Ciara Sotto is trying to bridge the gap between her mom Helen Gamboa and her cousin Sharon Cuneta, who had a misunderstanding recently involving politics.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Sunday, Ciara said both her mom and Cuneta are still hurting but she is hoping that things will be patched up.
“Sana nga maging peacemaker ako pero siyempre in God’s time maaayos din iyon. Siyempre nasasaktan ako para sa kanilang dalawa, lalong lalo na para sa mommy pero wala tayong magagawa eh. Nangyari na pero I’m trying my best na magkaayos sila,” she said.
Ciara said she believes the two women should have a one-on-one talk.
“Actually parang silang dalawa kailangan lang nilang mag-usap. Siguro kailangan lang talaga na puntahan niya si mommy. Siyempre mas matanda si mama,” she said.
Ciara, meantime, said her mom is doing well but there are still times when she becomes emotional when the subject of Cuneta is brought up.
“My mom is okay. She is doing very well. Busy siya sa taping for ‘Walang Hanggan.’ Pero siyempre kapag na-bring up pagdating kay Ate, siyempre masakit kasi parang anak niya iyon eh,” she said.
Cuneta is Senator Francis Pangilinan’s wife, while Gamboa is the wife of Senator Vicente Sotto III.
In a recent interview with The Philippine Star, Cuneta said politics is what divides their family, referring to her uncle and her husband.
“Yes, politics does divide families, like when my uncle says something bad about Kiko, you don’t understand why,” Cuneta said.
The statement hurt Gamboa, who said she could not understand why Cuneta would say such thing.
“Nagulat lang ako. Why did she say that?” she said.
