Jessica Sanchez on 'Idol' bottom 3?
MANILA, Philippines – Entertainment news website E! Online predicted that Filipino-Mexican-American contestant Jessica Sanchez will not be voted out from "American Idol" this week despite getting mixed reviews on her performance Wednesday night (Thursday morning in Manila).
E! Online predicted that although Sanchez might fall into the "bottom 3" with Joshua Ledet and Skylar Laine, the 16-year-old might survive this week’s voting.
Sanchez failed to impress Idol judge Randy Jackson in her first performance, wherein she sang Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.”
But she earned high praises from all three judges in round two with her performance of Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful."
E! Online said Sanchez’s noteworthy performance may have prolonged her stay in the competition.
“With Hollie stepping up her game and Jessica slaying her second performance, we fear Skylar's heading home tonight,” said the site.
Sanchez was also ranked third in the website’s Top 5 performances of the night for her rendition of the Joe Cocker classic.
Sanchez, however, was criticized for “over-accessorizing.”
“Hello, insane vocal control! Jessica more than made up for her less-than-stellar "Proud Mary" performance with her rendition of the Joe Cocker tune. And oh, that last note! One complaint? The over-accessorizing! It looks like she got into a fight with the Forever 21 accessory department...and lost,” the site said.
People in the United States can vote for Jessica Sanchez by dialing 1-866-436-5704 or 1-866-436-5709 or text "VOTE" to 5704 or 5709 or go to americanidol.com voting page or American Idol's Facebook page.
