Following his successful crossover from independent films to mainstream television, Martin now tackles the challenge of playing the main role in “Born to Love You,” a film by ABS-CBN’s film production outfit, Star Cinema.
The movie will see Martin paired with “Pop Superstar” Angeline Quinto.
“Ito ‘yung first mainstream movie ko. Nagpapasalamat ako kasi nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon ng Star Cinema na gumawa ng pelikula kasama si Angeline,” he told Push.com.ph.
With almost 20 independent films to his credit, Martin hopes his indie film audience will continue to support him in his new big-screen starrer.
“Ninenerbiyos ako kahit papaano. Kung paano ako tinangkilik ng mga tao sa indie at sa soap opera, sana ganoon din dito sa movie,” said Martin, who is has been dubbed Prince of Philippine Independent Films.
In 2010, Martin starred in Star Cinema’s “Sa’yo Lamang,” where he played a supporting role with an ensemble cast. Martin is set to follow up "Born to Love You" with a still-untitled project co-starring GMA Network actress Marian Rivera under Regal Films.
“Born to Love you” is directed by Jerome Pobocan and is scheduled to premiere in April this year.
