Robin Padilla plans to climb Mt. Everest
MANILA, Philippines – Action star Robin Padilla is planning to climb the world’s highest peak: Mount Everest.
Entertainment editor Ricky Lo in his column for the Philippine Star on Sunday said Padilla’s next target is to scale the highest peak in the world at 29,029 feet.
If Padilla succeeds in his quest, he would join an elite group of Filipino Everest climbers, led by Leo Oracion, whose expedition in May 2006 was widely followed by Filipinos.
Padilla recently climbed Mt. Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines, to support the call for reforestation.
According to Lo, Padilla has also climbed Mt. Pulad “to honor his Igorot forebears,” as well as Mt. Mohaji in Basilan “to raise awareness for the Muslim children caught in armed conflict.”
The actor has also climbed King’s Canyon in California.
He plans to climb Mt. Apo again, this time with 11-year-old son Ali.
Padilla has also been traveling a lot lately with wife Mariel Rodriguez, Lo said. The couple recently had a week-long vacation in Russia late last month, where they toured Moscow and St. Petersburg.
