Thou Reyes, the actor who portrayed villain Hugo on ABS-CBN’s  "I Love Betty La Fea," suffered minor injuries after figuring in a car accident in Quezon City on Thursday.

Reyes was rushed to Quirino Memorial Medical Center where he is now recuperating.

Investigators said the actor was driving his white Lancer at high speed along Santolan Road around noon. The accident occurred after Reyes reportedly tried to overtake other vehicles. He, however, could not avoid an incoming Toyota Altis driven by Supt. Rommel Miranda.

Miranda is an information officer assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

After Reyes hit Miranda’s vehicle, the actor’s car reportedly spun several times and hit another vehicle, a Mitsubishi Gallant, owned by Archie Cruz.

“Ang bilis sobra. Wala akong time bumawi kasi hindi ko lane… ‘yong kanan naman may sasakyan,” Miranda recounted.

Cruz said: “Siguro mga 100 [kph] ang takbo niya. Sumalpok siya sa [isang sasakyan]. Nasa kabilang lane ako. Umikot siya, sa akin tumama. Nadamay lang ako.”  

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, actress Ruffa Gutierrez said Reyes called her on the phone to ask for her help.

"Naaksidente siya. Siguro madulas dahil umuulan. He called me dahil walang tumutulong sa kanya doon and he is causing traffic so pinuntahan ko siya," Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez said she left when Reyes’ family arrived in the hospital.
