MANILA - Singer Rachel Alejandro shared her excitement as she gears up for a series of shows this May at The Peninsula Manila's Salon de Ning.

In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com on Thursday, Alejandro said her shows, which will start on May 17, are just part of something bigger as she celebrates her 25th year in the music industry.

"Well over the past few years I've been doing mostly mga gig-gig lang. I'm not even doing concerts for a while. So parang it's kind of warming up again, getting back into it. It's actually my 25th year in the music industry, so we are gearing up for a bigger show at the end of the year. Para naman hindi na out of nowhere biglang big show," she said.

Alejandro admitted that she misses performing and interacting with her audience.

"Kasi it's nice to see the reaction of the crowd, na they are singing along, they know your music and they're listening to what you are saying... Sa Salon de Ning, kapag nag-show ka doon, more or less pinuntahan ka ng tao and they are really with you in every song," she said.

In her Salon de Ning shows, Alejandro will perform some of her hits such as "Paalam Na" and "Nakapagtataka."

"When I was growing up kasi, even in my first album, people really knew me. Aside from ballads, parang I also do a lot of upbeat, a lot of dance, pop. As I grew in the industry, nag-iba-iba na rin ako. I can do rock, Broadway. So it's a mix of genres. Over the years din I also did musicals, so I will do a little bit of that also," she said.

When asked of her secret to her long lasting career, Alejandro said: "Lahat may ups and downs, lalo na kung nag-umpisa ka as a child star. Kailangan nag-e-evolve ka at may pinapakita kang bago. I think that's what it is."

"In my case, beyond singing, I also evolved into an entrepreneur. So ngayon aside from being known as a singer, parang not a chef but more of parang... I guess someone who has a lot of knowledge when it comes to healthy eating. And that's in support of my sister, who is the chef," she said, referring to her healthy food delivery service with her sister, The Sexy Chef.

Aside from her upcoming shows, Alejandro is also preparing for her role in the movie adaptation of the musical "Larawan."
