MANILA, Philippines -- The lead star of the upcoming Kapamilya remake of the classic soap "Anna Liza" was moved to tears when she was formally introduced early this week as her generation's Annaliza.

Andrea Brillantes, who will reprise the role popularized by the late actress Julie Vega, was introduced to advertisers Monday during ABS-CBN's trade event at the NBC Tent in Taguig City.

"Nangingilid na ang luha ko sa backstage pa lang at nang lumabas ako sa stage at nakita ang mga taong pumapalakpak sakin, tumulo na lang po bigla luha ko kasi dun lang po nag-sink in sa akin na ako naman po ang bida. God is really great," the 10-year-old actress said in a post on image-sharing service Instagram.

Brillantes was joined on stage by her fellow cast members, led by Zanjoe Marudo, Kaye Abad, Patrick Garcia and Denise Laurel.

They will also be joined in the series by Khalil Ramos, Sue Ramirez, Kiko Estrada, Shy Carlos, Kyline Alcantara, Jillian Aguila, and Reign Tolentino.

In a trailer for "Annaliza" that premiered at the trade event (seen below), the title character's complicated past is revealed.

Annaliza grows up in the care of Guido (Marudo), after she was separated from her biological parents Isabel (Laurel) and Lorenzo (Garcia).

The young girl was given to Guido by Makoy (Aquino), an accomplice of Stella (Abad) in her vengeful plot against Lorenzo, who denied fathering her child.

Guido is later seen in an apparent relationship with Stella, who is bent on exacting revenge on the lost daughter of Lorenzo, the man she was once loved.

The original "Anna Liza" first aired in 1979 and ended with an incomplete story after Vega's untimely death in 1985 due to cardiac arrest and bronchopneumonia.

Now almost 30 years since its abrupt ending, "Anna Liza" will be re-introduced to a new generation of TV viewers Brillantes taking on the title role.

As "Annaliza," Brillantes will be seen in the series directed by Theodore Boborol as "the girl who loves with all her heart despite her struggles in life."

Brillantes, whose former screen name was Blyth Gorostiza, joined the kiddie gag show "Goin' Bulilit" in 2010. She was also cast as the young Jackie, later played by actress Jessy Mendiola, in the drama series "Budoy."

Brillantes was also part of the numerous other Kapamilya series, including "E-Boy," "Kahit Puso'y Masugatan" and "Ina, Kapatid, Anak."

"Annaliza" is set to premiere later this year as part of ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.
