Hit singing competition to return May 24

MANILA - ABS-CBN's "The Voice Kids" has released another look at the Blind Auditions of the highly anticipated second edition of the singing contest in the Philippines.

The 90-second preview, which was released online early this week, features a boy named Juan Karlos taking the stage with his rendition of Adam Sandler's "Grow Old With You."

As in the show's hit first season last year, during the Blind Auditions, the coaches have their backs turned and can't see the one auditioning. They have to press a button, which turns their respective chairs, to signify their interest to have them join the team.

This time, children aged 8 to 14 will get the spotlight.

In the preview, one of coaches turned for Juan Karlos, although it was not revealed whether it was Sarah Geronimo, Lea Salonga, or Bamboo Manalac who pressed the button.

An earlier preview for "The Voice Kids" featured a girl named Lyka getting surprised reactions from the coaches for her raspy voice in singing Aegis' "Halik."

In the debut season of "The Voice of the Philippines," Manalac, Geronimo and Salonga were joined by The Black Eyed Peas' Apl.de.ap.

"The Voice Kids," which will be hosted by Alex Gonzaga and Luis Manzano, is billed as a "back-to-back" offering in tandem with the second season of the format for adults.

Last year, Mitoy Yonting of Team Lea was named the first "The Voice of the Philippines" winner following the show's 3-month run as a top-rating program and consistent trending topic online.

"The Voice Kids" is slated to premiere on May 24.
