MANILA - The mother of "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate Joshua Garcia was moved to tears after finally watching her son dance for the first time in the episode of the reality show aired on Tuesday.
In the May 13 telecast of "Pinoy Big Brother: All In," Joshua, who has competed overseas as part of his school's dance troupe, is tasked by Big Brother to perform "pandanggo sa ilaw" in the activity area.
Unknown to Joshua, his mother, Fe, is watching behind the one-way glass windows of the house. Moments after his performance, Joshua is surprised at the sight of his mom, who enters the activity area and rushes to him for a hug.
Fe was let in by "Kuya" after Joshua's emotional confession on the occasion of Mother's Day, recalling how he felt lonely and neglected as a child as he never had his mom by his side.
Fe requested the chance to clarify things with her 16-year-old son.
Joshua's parents separated when he was only a year old. Fe raised Joshua until he was five, when she left the boy in the care of his uncle in Tanauan, Batangas, admittedly due to her financial difficulties in sending him to school.
As the reunion of Joshua and his mom aired on Tuesday night, "Pinoy Big Brother" dominated conversations on social media, with the episode's official hashtag, "#PBBALINLoveAndLice," topping local and worldwide trends on Twitter.
Several other terms related to the reality show became trending topics, including "Mommy Fe," "Kuto," "Loisa," "Si Sandara Park," "Letter D," and "Daniel Matsunaga."
The latter three are in reference to Park, the Kapamilya star-turned-Korean superstar, being a guest in Thursday's episode of the program; and speculation that the hunk actor will join "Pinoy Big Brother" as its new celebrity housemate.
"Pinoy Big Brother: All In" airs weeknights on Primetime Bida, and on Saturdays and Sundays as part of ABS-CBN's Yes! Weekend line-up. Afternoon updates are also aired via "Uber" on weekdays.
