Following reports of their breakup over Reyes' alleged lack of respect for Cruz, the couple attended their first public function together at the birthday celebration of ABS-CBN Channel Head Cory Vidanes.
During their interview with ABS-CBN News, Cruz and Reyes avoided questions on their relationship, but offered well-wishes to Vidanes.
"Tita Cory, sana mas marami pang blessing dumating sa buhay niyo, and ingat po kayo palagi, maraming salamat po sa inyo," Cruz said.
"Enjoy po sa birthday niyo, and thank you for being such a nice boss to us," Reyes said.
The couple, who were together during the celebration, also gamely posed with Vidanes for photos.
As early as March this year, rumors of their split have plagued Cruz and Reyes. In May, following the controversial rift between Reyes and her sister Ara Mina, speculations of their breakup spread anew.
At the time, entertainment editor Ricky Lo in his column for The Philippine Star wrote that Cruz reportedly dumped Reyes after the actor got "fed up (daw!) with Cristine’s lack of respect for him by conking him on the head even in public."
This was denied by Cruz only a week later, saying "nothing has changed" between him and Reyes.
Meanwhile, the couple are busy with their respective showbiz careers. Reyes currently stars in ABS-CBN primetime series "Dahil sa Pag-Ibig," while Cruz is gearing up for his role in "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," the newest soap of the Kapamilya network.
