Annabelle Rama to run for Congress in 2013
'More fun in Cebu with Annabelle in House'
MANILA, Philippines – Controversial talent manager Annabelle Rama announced that she will run for Congress next year.
On Twitter, Rama said she is eyeing a congressional seat in Cebu, dismissing rumors that she will run as councilor.
"Mali ka. I'm running for congresswoman of Cebu,” she told a Twitter follower.
Rama added that she is set to announce her plans at the Cebu City Hall this morning.
On Monday, she will register as a voter in Cebu City.
Rama, the feisty matriarch of the Gutierrez family, is the cousin of Cebu City mayor Michael Rama.
On Wednesday, Rama’s only daughter, actress Ruffa Gutierrez, said on Twitter that the talent manager was invited to run for Congress in Cebu City.
"Mom @annabellerama2 excitedly tells me that she's being offered to run for Congresswoman in her hometown in Cebu. I'm like, whatttt?? Kaloka," she said.
Rama replied to Gutierrez’ tweet, saying that it wasn’t her fault that she was offered to run for the North District of Cebu.
“Bakit ka ba na shocked! Kasalanan ko ba kung ako ang napili para sa North District of Cebu?” she said.
Early this week, it was reported that former sexy actress Alma Moreno will join the senatorial race next year.
More fun in Cebu
Sen. Sergio Osmeña III welcomed the decision of Rama to run for congresswoman of Cebu.
"It will be fun! It's like having Miriam (Santiago) run there," said Osmeña, a Cebuano.
"They have very colorful personalities, very outspoken, very beautiful."
"She has a right to present herself for public office and I wish her well. Sana ituloy niya," he added.
