Support pours in for Katrina Halili

Katrina Halili received an outpouring of support from various sectors as the controversial actress faces one of her toughest battles.

Halili vowed to go after former lover Dr. Hayden Kho and others who were responsible for spreading an alleged sex video of her and the cosmetic surgeon on the Internet.

Fellow stars Nene Tamayo, Erich Gonzalez and RR Enriquez condemned the videotaping of the sexual intercourse and its eventual uploading on the Internet, saying these violated Halili’s rights.

"Dinigrade mo 'yong tao na nagkaroon kayo ng relationship. Supposedly dapat kahit paano may respeto ka sa kanya," Tamayo said.

"Masakit talaga 'yon para sa aming mga kababaihan, na makita mo 'yong mayroon kang video, mayroon kang ganoon scandal," Enriquez echoed.

Actress Angel Locsin got irked when the sex scandal broke out. She said a stronger law protecting women against this kind of abuse should be passed by Congress.

She maintained she would never watch the video out of respect for Halili.

"Hindi [dahil sa] artista  [siya] ay sisirain niyo na ang buhay. Sana respeto na lang sa kapwa natin," Locsin said. "Matapang si Katrina. Malakas ang loob [niya]. Makakabangon at makakabangon [din siya]. Huwag niyo nang masyadong apakan."

Aside from Kho-Halili sex scandal, the cosmetic surgeon allegedly victimized two other women. These sex videos are also circulating on the Internet.

Lolit Solis, Kho’s former manager, meanwhile, called for the revocation of Kho’s license.  Solis stressed that it is not fair for the actress to suffer alone due to the controversy.

Kho should also face the consequences of his actions, she maintained.

“Ten years siyang nag-aral, hindi niya napag-aralang masama yon? Si Katrina all her life hanggang sa (magiging) apo niya, may stigma na," she said.

Solis dropped Kho as one of her wards after the relationship of the cosmetic surgeon with Dr. Vicki Belo ended. Belo and Kho had separated after the former discovered his affair with Halili.

HB 4315

For bravely facing the sex scandal hounding her, Halili should be the voice of women who were abused by their partners through the use of technology, a party-list congressman said.

Buhay Rep. Irwin Tieng also lauded Halili's decision to go after the perpetrators.

"Since siya 'yong tumatayong pinakasikat na tao na [naging biktima nito] at siya ang may pinakamalakas ang loob, tulong na 'yong ginagawa niya na lumalabas siya,"  Tieng said.

Tieng is the principal author of House Bill 4315 that seeks to criminalize the recording of "private acts and other violations of the privacy of an individual" through the use of cellphones or video cameras. Violators face a penalty of up to six years imprisonment and a fine of P100,000 to P500,000.

Tieng said he hopes to pass the bill immediately, noting that his office has already received an almost 100 cases of complaints that involved sex videos.  Reports from SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon and Umagang Kay Ganda
