MANILA, Philippines - Filipino singing sensation Charice arrived in Manila on Friday morning fresh from a successful performance at "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in the US where she launched her first self-titled international album.

Charice and her mother, Raquel Pempengco, touched down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on board Philippine Airlines flight PR 103.

In an exclusive interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Charice shared her happiness after the successful launching of her album in the US.

"Masaya po kasi nandoon yung si Ms. Oprah. Siyempre dumating din po si Mr. David Foster. Sobrang big deal po noon sa akin na doon po ni-release ang album," Charice said.

The singer added that what makes her album launching so special was that not only Filipinos in the US but also Americans supported her CD.

"Siyempre yong mga reaction ng mga tao. At masaya ako kapag ginagaya nila yong 'Pyramid'. Kasi hindi po sila lahat Pilipino pero sobra po yong appreciation na ginawa nila dito sa album," Charice said.

A video of Charice singing one of the songs in her debut album, "In This Song," and accompanied by Foster on the piano, appears in the Oprah.com website.

New life

Charice who experienced a lot of changes in her life after she started her international singing career, is now back in the country to renew her commitment with God.

She and only sibling Carl will be baptized as Catholics in an undisclosed church in Pasig on Saturday.

"Bukas na po yong binyag ko po sa Pasig," said Charice, whose major sponsor is no other than the world's most powerful woman, Oprah Winfrey.

Winfrey, who has been involved in Charice’s international career, and composer-producer David Foster are among the 24 pairs of godparents of Charice and Carl.

Asked if Oprah will personally attend the event, Charice replied: "Hindi ko po alam pero siyempre hindi naman po pupunta si Ms. Oprah at si sir David dahil busy sila."

Other ninongs and ninangs are ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III and president Charo Santos-Concio, broadcaster Karen Davila, Boy Abunda, Kris Aquino, and entertainment journalists Ricky Lo and Jobert Sucaldito.

After the baptism, Charice will have her post-birthday celebration with less fortunate children at an amusement park in Laguna.

"Tapos po mayroon po akong birthday celebration [for the] underprivileged sa Enchanted Kingdom," Charice said.

The singer, who turned 18 last May 10, said that it was also one of her dreams to help children who are in need.

"Matagal ko na pong gustong makatulong especially sa kids. Mahilig kasi ako sa kids that's why yong sinasalihan kong charity like World Vision ay for children. Gusto kong maranasan nila kung ano ang nakukuha ng normal na bata," Charice said.

Charice will only be staying in the country for three days. On Monday she is set to go to Japan for some engagements.

"Sa May 24 po alis ako papuntang Japan for pictorial and press conference. For magazine po yata. Pero kasi mayroon po akong ni-record doon na Japanese song na tinranslate ko sa English--yun pong 'Crescent Moon,'" Charice shared.
