Hunk actor John Lloyd Cruz finally broke his silence and defended actress Ruffa Gutierrez on issue that they had a romantic affair.
Gutierrez, who was Cruz's former co-star on ABS-CBN's defunct hit series "I Love Betty La Fea", explained that the issue of their alleged romantic ties started with the cast parties they threw before the end of their show.
"'Yong kay Ruffa, nagsimula yan noong latter part ng 'I Love Betty La Fea.' Siyempre patapos na 'yong show, so halos every week magpa-party kami kasi. Alam mong magkakahiwalay-hiwalay na, so napadalas ang cast party. Doon nagsimula at lumaki nang lumaki at lumobo na [ang issue] at may mga issues pa na nadamay," the actor said.
The actor also denied reports that the sultry former beauty queen was spotted in his condominium unit.
"Una po, wala akong condo. Isang beses, [we tried] na mag-cast party sa isang hotel room. Doon nagsimula 'yon, pero pati lahat ng mga directors namin ay pumunta halos 50% ng cast ay nandoon. Hindi kami nag-hotel ni Ruffa," Cruz said.
The actor added that he does not believe that Gutierrez would do something "immoral."
"Hindi naman ganoong klaseng babae si Ruffa. I don't think ganoong klase siyang babae. Mayroon siyang pamilya at napakalaki ng pangalan nila sa industriyang ito and I don't think si Ruffa is capable of doing something like that," he said.
Girl troubles
Cruz, one of the hottest actors in showbiz, however, still kept mum on the issue that he and sweetheart Liz Uy has already broken up.
In an interview during the launch of his newest endorsement, "Biogesic For Kids", Cruz said that he doesn't want to comment on the issue as a sign of respect to Uy.
"At this point po 'yong tungkol kay Liz, siguro mas maganda kung mabibigyan ako or 'yong sarili ko ng mga tao ng konting panahon, hindi lang para sa akin. This is a very sensitive issue and nagma-matter 'yong pagiging lalaki mo. And bilang lalaki you always like to be as gentleman[ly] as possible," Cruz said.
The actor said that he is waiting for the right time to be able to answer all the questions regarding his love life, particularly on the issue of his alleged breakup with Uy. Other reports said that there's a third party involved in the said separation.
"Siguro darating 'yong time na makakapagbigay ako ng mas maganda. Mas maliwanag at mas may diretsong sagot tungkol sa tanong na iyan. But at this point ay hihingin ko muna sa inyo sa mga tao sa mga fans sa mga sumusuporta. Sa akin na ibigay niyo muna itong panahon and hopefully in the near or later future ay mas masasagot ko iyan ng diretso at mas malinaw," Cruz added.
Courting Sarah
Aside from Gutierrez, other reports said, that the Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo was the reason why Cruz and Uy decided to call it quits.
Cruz stressed that he never tried to pursue the singer-actress and added that he doesn't believe in courtship.
"Hindi po. At saka hindi tayo naniniwala sa ligawan o courtship. Ang sa akin kasi, hindi 'yong process ng ligawan. Mas ano ako, sa companionship. 'Yong we spent time together. Hindi 'yong aakyat ka ng ligaw," Cruz explained.
It will be recalled that reports of the alleged Cruz-Uy breakup, started when Cruz and Geronimo did their second film together "You Changed My Life."
Right now, Cruz is busy shooting his film “In My Life” under Star Cinema with Luis Manzano and Star for All Season Vilma Santos.
Soon he will be doing a television series with actress Angel Locsin.
