MANILA - Veteran actress Boots Anson-Roa was at a loss for words after a foreigner allegedly attacked her with a newspaper in the lobby of a condominium in Quezon City, where she resides.

In an interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" on Friday, the 69-year-old detailed the incident that reportedly took place on May 22 in the lobby of Andrea North Towers.

She narrated that she was just browsing the newspapers readily available at the front desk of their building, when a foreigner identified as Australian-Canadian Ross Hemingway suddenly charged towards her.

"Maya maya, ito na, basta may bumalaga sa akin, hurling expletives at me," she said. "Tapos tinanong niya ako, 'Do you own that? Why are you reading other's newspapers? Why don't you subscribe to your own newspaper?"

Baffled, the actress ignored Hemingway who, after calling her out, began walking to the elevator of the condominium.

However, after seeing that Anson-Roa picked up the newspaper again, he allegedly stormed at the actress.

"Siguro nakita nga niya na nagbabasa ulit ako. So binalumbon niya 'yung dyaryong hawak niya tapos hinmapas ako dito," she said, pointing at her arm.

A laughing Anson-Roa said she felt more flustered than anything. And instead of fighting back, she asked the security of the condominium to make a report about the incident.

"Basta ang sinabi ko lang sa security people, concierge, can you just make a report?" she said. "Gawan niyo ng report then I will talk to the administration later on. I will talk to the legal counsel of the condominium because I want to discuss this."

Anson-Roa also shared that she went on to file a formal complaint against Hemingway, with the help of his fiance and lawyer King Rodrigo. She couldn't help but laugh when she found out that Ross called her a "newspaper thief."

Focusing on the positive things

Asked about her upcoming wedding this June, Anson-Roa said that she is excited and feels privileged to have Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle oversee the ceremony.

She said that they have yet to plan the honeymoon because their children will be flying back to the country for the wedding. "My children and his children are coming so we have to wait until maybe the end of June," she said.

Anson-Roa, in the interview, also recalled that when he first met Rodrigo, there wasn't any "spark" or "kilig factor."

"There was a party and then 'yung mga kapatid niya, hindi man sinabi sa amin tapos binulungan na lang si King na we're trying to match you with Boots, so medyo nagulat na lang siya," she said.

Anson-Roa continued: "The next time [we met] was 3 years after. January 2013. Nagka-party ulit pero medyo iba na 'yung pakiramdam. You should see our text messages, nakakahiya. Para kaming nagkaka-second childhood."

Pressured by host Kris Aquino to share one example, she said: "For one, tinuruan ko siya na bading language. Tulad ng charing. Binalikan niya ako ng text message, sino si charing?"
