Gerald defends Kim Chiu
Actor appeals: Spare Kim from intrigues
MANILA, Philippines – Gerald Anderson said part of the reason why he went public with his relationship with Maja Salvador was to spare his former girlfriend Kim Chiu from intrigues.
In an interview with entertainment talk show "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday, the 24-year-old actor expressed frustration over Chiu being constantly "dragged into" controversies involving him.
Both former housemates of the hit reality TV series "Pinoy Big Brother," Chiu and Anderson broke up in 2010 amid controversies surrounding their relationship.
"Isang dahilan kung bakit ko rin ginawa ‘yun para hindi na rin madamay si Kim sa lahat ng ito. Let's move on. She shouldn't be dragged into this mess. Hayaan nalang natin," Anderson said.
The "Budoy" star admitted the real score between him and Salvador in the June 2013 issue of entertainment magazine StarStudio.
"It's about time. Oras na," Anderson said. "Kumbaga, nakakapagod din itago, hindi rin tama. Sinabi ko na lahat ng gusto kong sabihin dun sa article para na rin hindi humaba pa."
He added: "Sa akin, siguro the harder the fight... the more you fight for something na gusto mo talaga, worth it talaga. Lahat ng tao may kanya-kanyang opinyon, but ang importante 'yung mga mahal ko sa buhay."
Anderson and Salvador's relationship, however, came at the cost of the actress' friendship with Chiu, her "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" co-star and erstwhile best friend.
In an earlier interview, an emotional Chiu said she has already forgiven Anderson and Salvador, but added "it is difficult to forget what they did” to her.
