Boots Anson-Roa withdraws charges vs foreigner
MANILA – Veteran actress Boots Anson-Roa has withdrawn the physical assault charge she filed against Australian-Canadian Ross Hemingway, who reportedly attacked her with a newspaper in the lobby of a condominium in Quezon City where she resides
This after Hemingway apologized to Anson-Roa on Tuesday for his “bad behavior.”
“I offended you, I insulted you and I frightened you. It was the wrong thing to do. I apologize sincerely for doing that. It was bad of me to do it. I’ve done it too many times before. It needs to be fixed. I wish to apologize to you sincerely for my behavior and for what happened,” Hemingway told the 69-year-old actress.
“I promise that I’ll be much better behaved and this thing should never happen again to you or to anyone who lives in that condominium,” he added.
Anson-Roa said she accepted Hemingway’s apology since he has also admitted his “other wrong deeds.”
“I accept the apology. I appreciate your having admitted the wrong deeds not only to me but to other people who you have had incidents with in the condominium. As agreed upon earlier, I hope that [this apology] will also be put in writing for record purposes. I sincerely hope that in the future, not only for my sake but also for other residents, there will be no other incidents coming from your end,” she said.
In the May 30 episode of “Aquino and Abunda Tonight,” Anson-Roa detailed the incident that reportedly took place last May 22 at the lobby of Andrea North Towers.
She narrated that she was just browsing the newspapers at the front desk of their building, when Hemingway suddenly charged towards her.
Baffled, the actress ignored Hemingway who, after calling her out, began walking to the elevator of the condominium.
However, after seeing that Anson-Roa picked up the newspaper again, he allegedly stormed at the actress.
According to the actress, she and her fiancé, 74-year-old Atty. King Rodrigo, are glad that this row has been settled before they get married this Saturday. - with a report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
