Amid controversy, Julia stands by sister Daniella
MANILA – Julia Barretto is standing by her sister, Daniella, who was embroiled in a controversy early this month.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Julia said she will always be there for her sister.
“I will always be here for my sister, no matter what it is. It maybe that or anything, I will be here for her. I love her. She’s one of the nicest talaga and it’s sad that some people are misjudging her. She’s fine. She’s great,” she said.
Late last month, the lawyer of their aunt Claudine, Atty. Ferdinand Toapcio, posted a status on social media which read: “Year of the Horse nga pala. This could be Danni Barretto’s year…”
While Topacio later explained that he did not mean to offend his client’s niece when he made his controversial tweet, Daniella went on record to say she does not believe the lawyer.
Asked if she was also offended, Julia said, “I don’t want to talk about that. It’s not for me to talk about in the first place. Hindi ko siya away, hindi ko siya gulo. Wala akong karapatan doon.”
In Daniella’s past interview, the 20-year-old blogger said Topacio should have just stayed away from the Barretto family feud.
“I feel like hindi na siya dapat nakisali. I was more of hurt doon sa tweet niya than offended,” she said. “He doesn’t know me personally so what is he trying to say?”
Because of Topacio’s tweet, Daniella said she has been receiving a lot of negative comments online.
“Yes, I get hurt. Nakaapekto sa akin ng sobra kasi ang daming bashers na sunud-sunod akong bina-bash every day dahil sa tweet niya na 'yun. Every day on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. I go to school and yung mga tao sa school ko, siyempre active din sila sa social media,” she said.
Despite this, Daniella vowed to come out stronger.
“I’m ready because I’m doing this interview to clear my name, na pinalaki ako ng maayos ng nanay ko. She raised me, all of us well. Pinalaki niya ako na may values and may manners,” she said.
