Annabelle Rama brushes off arrest warrant
MANILA, Philippines – Talent manager Annabelle Rama on Tuesday morning broke her silence after a local court issued an arrest warrant for her in connection with the libel charges filed by former actress Nadia Montenegro.
In a series of tweets posted while in San Francisco, California, Rama maintained her innocence of the charges filed by Montenegro and told her supporters that she is doing fine.
“Sa lahat ng mahal ko sa buhay, don't panic reg news yesterday. Im ok. Maraming Salamat sa lahat ng nagdadasal for me,” Rama said.
“Malinis ang konsensya ko. Di ako criminal, at di ako pumapatay ng lechonin na baboy masama yun… Di ako involved sa mga illegal transactions,” she added.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Quezon City Regional Trial Court (QC RTC) Branch 92 Judge Eleuterio Bathan after Rama failed to attend the court hearings involving the 14 counts of libel.
Montenegro had charged Rama with libel and unjust vexation over the talent manager's alleged defamatory statements about her which were posted on the microblogging site Twitter.
She said Rama called her "piggy" on Twitter several times and alleged that she had an affair with another man and is unable to pay her bills, among others.
Rama, for her part, said the only thing that she did was to help a friend.
“Ang masama lng ginawa ko: tumulong sa isang pamilyang naghihirap at gustong makatikim sa swerteng binigay sa akin ng mahal kong Sto Nino…. Ito na ang natanggap kong ganti demanda ng libel,” she said.
Rama also tweeted that she is dining in a Filipino restaurant called “Karilagan” in San Francisco, and enjoying a Lechon Kawali.
“Pinapak ko ang lechon kawali super taba kinagatkagat ko yung balat ng baboy,” she said.
