Reconciliation, peace mark 'The Legal Wife' finale
MANILA -- Despite the build-up of emotions leading to the finale, top-rating series "The Legal Wife" ended peacefully, with the main characters opting for reconciliation and starting anew.
Dubbed as the "End of an Affair", The Legal Wife's final episode, which aired Friday, showed erstwhile couple Adrian (played by Jericho Rosales) and Monica (character of Angel Locsin) reaching a mutual decision to stay civil for the sake of their children.
In their final conversation, Monica told Adrian that she is leaving for the US with their children to get rid of the pain and the memories of what they have been through, despite the fact that she still loves him.
"Mahal pa rin kita, pero ayokong mahalin ka nang may pagdududa. Kasi alam kong that’s what we deserve, all or nothing at all. I gave you everything pero binalewala mo lang lahat," Monica said.
Adrian accepted Monica's decision, telling her that he heard her voice when he was still in the hospital after figuring in a car accident. This made him realize that he needed to survive for her and their children, he said.
Monica returned her wedding ring to Adrian, asking him to keep it, for a chance in the future when they are both ready for another shot at their relationship, and Adrian may again put the ring on her finger.
Earlier in the episode, Adrian's mistress, Nicole (played by Maja Salvador), broke down as she was asking Monica, who was her best friend, to forgive her.
Before that, Monica saw Nicole's car as the former was leaving the hospital where Adrian was confined, and noticed that there was someone inside the car.
Monica approached the car and was surprised to find Nicole and Adrian's son, Jacob, trapped inside. She brought the child to the hospital.
At the same time, Nicole received a call from Jacob's nanny, telling her that the boy was inside the car when Nicole drove off. That was only the time when Nicole realized that she left her son inside the car, and rushed to get him.
Nicole learned that it was Monica who saved her son, and apologized to her.
Monica told Nicole to take care of her son, as he will be the one who will give her the love that she has been looking for.
Nicole also reconciled with her father, Dante (played by Mark Gil), after he also apologized to her.
Monica tells her mother, Eloisa (character of Rio Locsin), how she felt when she held Jacob.
"I thought I married a man of integrity. Ang taas-taas ang tingin ko sa kanya. Kaya nu'ng nagawa niya 'yun, ang sakit-sakit 'Nay, durog na durog ako. Ang tagal kong inayos ang sarili ko 'Nay. Akala ko enough na yung tatlong taon na magkahiwalay kami. Pero nu'ng nahawakan ko 'yung anak ni Nicole, bumalik lahat. Yung fear, yung doubt, kaya tinatanong ko ang sarili ko kung kaya ko pa," Monica lamented.
The final episode revolved around reconciliation and moving forward, with the characters opting for a fresh start with their lives and relationships.
