MANILA, Philippines -- King of Comedy Dolphy, who is confined at the Makati Medical Center, might have to undergo a medical procedure but his son Eric Quizon didn't divulge the nature of the operation.
In an interview on "Mornings@ANC" on Thursday morning, Quizon said his father's condition has stabilized but remains critical.
"The doctors were actually suggesting something but I can't say it right now. But they want to do something to him. They can only make sure if in the next three hours kung 'yung condition na ito pa din then they will probably perform that. I will let you know later kung ano 'yon. The doctors just want to make sure that they will be able to perform that," he said.
Quizon said Dolphy's blood pressure has stabilized, and while his kidneys remain weak, the veteran actor has started to urinate.
"His kidneys, although still very weak, somehow nagre-release ng urine, which means somehow it's performing again. ...Although the output is very little pero it's good news na somehow ay nag-i-improve ang condition ng kidney niya," he said.
Dolphy was rushed to the hospital on June 9 due to pneumonia.
While it seemed he was on his way to recovery, Quizon announced on Wednesday noon that his father is in critical condition.
Quizon also extended his appreciation to President Benigno Aquino III, who urged Filipinos to pray for the comedian's recovery.
Dolphy was awarded the Grand Order of the Golden Heart by Aquino in November 2010 for his contributions to art and culture.
"You know President Noynoy has been given my dad so much respect. He gave my dad the Golden Heart award. He gave that award, the highest recognition a President can give to an individual, he gave that to my father," Quizon said.
"I know the President has said a lot of wonderful things about my father. I'm very honored, happy and thankful that he asked the Filipino people to pray for my dad," he added.
