Smokey: Dolphy treated me like a son
MANILA, Philippines – Actor Smokey Manaloto on Thursday said he couldn’t help but feel emotional when he visited the King of Comedy Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon at the hospital Thursday night.
Manaloto played the role of “Bill,” the son of Dolphy’s character "Kevin Cosme," on the hit comedy TV show “Home Along Da Riles” for 13 years.
The actor said Dolphy always treated him like a son, even off camera.
Manaloto said he is one of the few actors who had the privilege of working with Dolphy.
He said Maricel Soriano, who also played the role of Dolphy’s daughter in “John en Marsha,” was also emotional when they visited the comedian at the Makati Medical Center.
Dolphy is suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which hinders the flow of air to the lungs.
On Thursday, Dolphy's son Eric Quizon said his father’s vital signs have improved, prompting the doctors to suggest that he undergoes dialysis.
Quizon also said doctors are monitoring a hemorrhage in Dolphy’s body.
Dolphy’s family and friends continue to ask for prayers for the comedy king’s recovery.
Manaloto also thanked Dolphy’s supporters who continue to pray for him as he battles illness.
“Naa-appreciate ‘yun ng pamilya Quizon,” he said.
