Stars flock to hospital to visit Dolphy
MANILA, Philippines -- Aside from urging Filipinos to pray for Dolphy's recovery, celebrities have also started to flock at the Makati Medical Center to visit the King of Comedy.
According to an ABS-CBN News report, Maricel Soriano, who played Dolphy's daughter in the long-running sitcom "John en Marsha," visited the comedian, leaving the hospital at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Also seen at the hospital were ABS-CBN president Charo Santos Concio, actors Tirso Cruz III, Gio Alvarez, Smokey Manoloto, Janice de Belen and Vhong Navarro, host Willie Revillame, writer Bibeth Orteza, ABS-CBN executive Linggit Tan and director Edgar Mortiz.
On the late night news "Bandila," comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas cried as she reminisced about the Comedy and King, as she offered her prayers for his speedy recovery.
On Wednesday, numerous celebrities including Sharon Cuneta and Jim Paredes asked Filipinos to pray for Dolphy.
Dolphy's son, Eric Quizon, said on Wednesday night that his father has been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which hinders the flow of air to the lungs. The condition is generally permanent and may be progressive over time.
