MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – It was initially reported that the country’s very own international singing sensation Charice would be part of the second season of hit American musical television series, “Glee,” but the young singer immediately issued a denial.

Weeks later, however, the 18-year-old pint-sized singer posted on her Twitter account an announcement confirming earlier reports.

Based on the account of Raquel Pempengco, Charice’s mom, the audition happened right after the rumors came out.

Citing its reliable source, ABS-CBN’s Balitang America reported that Charice was scheduled to audition for “Glee” in New York, but it was supposed to be strictly confidential. The source was worried the leak in the Philippines may have ruined Charice’s chances to be on the show, it further reported.

But Pempengco maintained that their camp never lied.

Instead of criticizing her, she appealed to Charice's detractors to be happy for her success.

Nabigyan ng pagkakataon," she said.

Charice will play the role of a foreign exchange student whose killer vocals get lead star Rachel contemplating murder. The pint-sized singer will start taping for the series next month

"Glee" is an hour-long comedy series that follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to reignite his passion while working with a group of outcasts to revive the fortunes of the school's glee club.

 Charice still on cloud nine

In a separate interview, Charice said she never expected that she would land a role in the hit TV series. She said she was shocked when she heard the good news.

So, parang sabi ko, ‘Grabe, ganito pala kalaki ‘yong [show], ganoon po talaga ka-big deal sa kanila like kapag may new artist na mapasama [ia-announce nila],” she added.

The “Pyramid” singer, who used to perform ballad songs, is also looking forward to singing old songs for the show. When asked about her role, she, however, declined to give any detail.
