MANILA - Derek Ramsay may be one of the busiest Kapamilya actors today, but he still hasn’t given up his love for adventure and sports.

He and girlfriend Angelica Panganiban, along with his friends, are all set to take a two-month grand vacation in South Africa next year to watch FIFA World Cup there. As part of the adventure, the fun-loving actor further shared that he is even willing to take odd jobs in South Africa to finance the group’s exciting escapades.

“We’re planning to stay there for more than a month. And we’re planning to work there also. Ayaw naming magdala ng masyadong maraming pera. Gusto namin magtrabaho dun para yung kikitain namin ang gagastusin namin dun,” he told ABS-CBN.com.

Though both of them are earning enough to afford the expensive accommodations and their planned itinerary, Ramsay said he wants Panganiban to experience the kind of life he led before.

“It’s part of my culture being English na after college, we go to another country and we work there. So gusto kong ma-experience din ni Angel yun. And I think it would be a lot of fun kasi mga 15 kami na magpupunta dun. Most of them are frisbee friends, some of them are my best friends, and of course si Angelica, ang makakasama ko,” he related.

“We don’t know kung anong trabaho ang makukuha namin dun. Game kaming mag-alaga ng hayop, kahit ano, basta ayoko nung typical na bakasyon. Kasi pwede mo namang gawin na pumasok ka sa isang magandang hotel pero gusto namin gawing adventure talaga. So if we work on a farm or something okay pa rin yun,” he added.

Since it’s his first time to watch the World Cup live, he said it’s  going to be the highlight of his stay there. He, however, will make sure that Panganiban gets to experience other adventures as well like skydiving and swimming with great white sharks.

“Of course the main reason is the World Cup. Next month pa lang silang mago-open ng tickets to sell for flights there and nag-bid na kami ng tickets for the game. But that’s the thing, England is one of the favorites and one of the biggest teams kaya mahirap makakuha ng tickets. Plano nga namin mag-camp out kami sa mga stadium. Gagawa kami ng gimik para makabili ng tickets,” he added.

"The Wedding” actor also disclosed that he is working hard this year so that he can take the much-anticipated break next year.

Isn’t he worried that he might lose projects to other stars during his leave of absence?

“Well that’s why I am doing my best right now to leave a mark so that they’d like me. If I come back and I am not accepted anymore, that’s life. You have to accept that,” he replied, adding:

“It’s a risk that I am willing to take because this trip is a chance of a lifetime. But as I said, it’s just a month or two.”
