Family
matters most for versatile actor Matt Ranillo III--for the veteran
actor, no amount of material success, especially acquired from dubious
means, is worth sacrificing one's family for.
This is why Matt
is still mad at daughter Krista Ranillo for starring in the film
"Paupahan" ("For Hire"), a film about prostitution, which had her
showing some nudity and mouthing cuss words.
“Hindi ganyan ang
pagpapalaki ko sa aking mga anak. Kahit naman noon na nagbida ako ay I
saw to it na hindi bastos ang pelikula ko. No, I haven’t seen the movie
yet but judging from what I’ve read, Krista was made to do things not
suitable to her age.
“It doesn’t matter whether Krista was paid
well. What is more important is her image as a model youth. How can she
be a model youth if she does sexy roles?" said Matt.
According to Krista, she invited her dad to the premiere showing of “Paupahan” last Monday night but he didn't show up.
“It
was only my mother who was with me. Alam ko, alam ni Daddy na imbitado
ko siya. Wala naman siyang alam ko na trabaho no’ng araw na ‘yon. O
meeting kaya. Alam ko, nagagalit pa siya sa akin,” Krista intimated to
abs-cbnnews sadly.
“This is the second time I texted him but he
didn’t reply... What do I do? It’s great that my mom is here but I also
need my dad on occasions like this,” she added.
Krista admitted
she was looking aroundm hoping to see her father inside the cinema. “I
wanted to cry nang hindi ko siya makita. Sana naman ay mapatawad na
niya ako. Napanood naman ng mga tao ang pelikula and I didn’t do
anything shameful,” she exclaimed.
Lynda Tupaz, Matt'’s better
half and Krista's mother, was not at her daughter’s beck and call
during the premier but stayed on the side light. She wanted to patch
up, said Krista, her and her dad but to no avail.
She denied
that their family problem is just a ploy to sell the movie.
“Magkakandaiyak-iyak ba naman ako nang ganito kung gimik ito. I know my
father better than anyone else. Mahirap talaga siyang magtampo,” Krista
said.
“I hope magkasundo na kami. Mahirap ‘yong hindi kami nag-iimikan sa bahay,” said the young actress.
Meanwhile,
her movie merited an R-13 Movie and Television Review and
Classification Board rating despite the many swear words sprinkled
throughout the dialogue.
“Wala naman daw kasing mga ipinakitang
censorable parts like too much sexy scenes. It’s good dahil
maipapalabas ito sa SM. (There weren’t any censorable parts. This could
be shown at SM),” informed Allen Dizon, the producer one of the central
actors of the film.
