LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson's father said Sunday he had "concerns" about the circumstances of his son's death and revealed that funeral plans for the pop icon have yet to be finalized.

In a surprise appearance on the red carpet at the Black Entertainment Television Awards in Los Angeles, Joe Jackson told a CNN reporter that he was attending the event in tribute to his son.

Asked about the swirl of intrigue and rumors that have surrounded the aftermath of his son's death, Jackson, 79, said: "I have a lot of concerns. I can't get into that but I don't like what happened."

Jackson then diverted questions to newly appointed family attorney Londell McMillan, who was described as the sole person authorized to speak on behalf of the family.

McMillan declined to comment further on Jackson's misgivings about his son's death and indicated that a second autopsy ordered by the family had not been concluded.

"We can't talk about that now," McMillan said. "There is a second autopsy that is underway and we'll let that process take its course at this time. We'll have more detail at a later point."

Joe Jackson meanwhile said he had been touched by the outpouring of tributes dedicated to his son.

"The only thing is, I wish the world had recognized him when he was living," he said. "Because, you know, but right now he is bigger than ever now. I wish he was here to see all this. To hear all this."
