Actress and television host Ruffa Gutierrez celebrated a meaningful birthday in Los Angeles, California.
Ruffa, who co-hosts the morning show "Ruffa & Ai" with actress-comedian Ai-Ai delas Alas, held her birthday bash last June 30 at the CBS Studios in Hollywood with a fund-raise benefiting needy Filipino children.
A good friend of the actress, Monet Lu, hosted the party that was attended by LA’s Filipino-American entertainment and community leaders.
"Ruffa, a good friend of mine, requested me to put up an event for her birthday as a way of giving back to the community," Lu said.
Last year, Ruffa raised P3.5 million for her Roof-A-Child Foundation. She aims to top that this year.
Adoring fans and celebrities came to the party.
"She's been a friend for years, and I'm so glad she's in town and celebrating her birthday for a cause," said Antoinette Taus.
"I'm just so excited to meet her especially knowing all she does for her non-profit and you know her foundation," said Disney star Leslie-Anne Huff.
Other LA-based Filipino showbiz stars joined in the celebration.
"I wish you the very, very best in life, a happy and quiet life," said Bong Dimayacyac.
"I'm so happy we still see her around. She's so down to earth, and congratulations to her for having a wonderful career," said Bunny Paras.
Ruffa’s family has an extra special wish for her.
"Peace of mind, yun lang," said her mother Annabelle Rama.
Her father Eddie Gutierrez said, "if she finds the right man, I wish her happiness."
As for her birthday wish, Ruffa said that she couldn't ask for anything more. She admits that meeting another prince, even not an actual one, won't be bad.
"Ang prinsipe naman at prinsesa ay nasa puso hinahanap yun. Di kailangan ang riches talaga. We don't care about material things, What's important is you're happy," Ruffa said.
"Hopefully, makahanap ako ng isang gwapong Pilipino para doon na ako sa Pilipinas at di na ako lumipad sa ibang bansa," she added. Report from Yong Chavez, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau correspondent, Los Angeles
