Quizons thankful to spend more time with Dolphy
MANILA, Philippines – The Quizon family is thankful that they continue to be with their patriarch, Comedy King Dolphy.
They said Dolphy's condition is getting better and the more time they get to spend with him is already a blessing.
Sixteen of Dolphy's children are in Manila and everyone wants to spend time and look after their father.
“Funny nga, agawan, madami kasi kami. Even Zsa Zsa said every moment now has to be enjoyed. She said that and I was already thinking that days ago. We are happy,” said Ronnie Quizon, one of Dolphy’s sons.
Ronnie said their family believes in the power of prayers and that their faith gives them hope that Dolphy will get better.
“There were moments when I said my goodbyes to my dad... everyone had closure but my dad is a fighter. Even the doctor said ‘Fighter talaga si Mang Dolphy,'” he shared.
Ronnie shared that when Dolphy was awake, he told him how Filipinos are praying for his recovery.
“I would tell him ‘The nation is praying for you.’ Actually, just the nation praying for him is already a miracle. Never heard it in my life,” he said.
On Tuesday, the Quizon family said the veteran comedian has contracted pneumonia anew. Ronnie, however, said they are not too worried about it.
“Medyo sanay kami – a soldier who is always at war. There is barilan tonight tapos tomorrow wala. You can compare us to soldiers at war. Sanay na kami,” he said.
Yesterday, Dolphy's daughter Nicole also celebrated her birthday at the hospital.
Though the comedy king still can't speak, his children said their bond as a family has never been stronger.
“Paborito ko when he would recognize me, then I said I love you and he said I love you back. Three words, no volume but I heard it so loud,” he said.
